SCYB UPDATE 17/06/2022:
Following a forced pause due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to announce that the Southern Counties Youth Band will be resuming monthly rehearsals from 25th September 2022.
The band meets once a month on a Sunday, following the academic year starting in September, and we hold a residential course at Easter. We don’t meet for regular rehearsals in the summer term because of exams and holidays, although there may be some rehearsals and public performances!
Our players come from a big area, stretching from Oxfordshire and London down to the South East corner of Kent and the Isle of Wight. We meet near the centre of the area close to Crawley and the A23 which is easy for everyone to get to.
Rehearsals are held on Sundays, giving players the opportunity to play a wide range of music under the direction of our excellent team of conductors and tutors, all volunteers from local bands.
New players are always welcome at SCYB! If you’re interested in joining the band, or just coming along for a taster, please contact Alex Sears: email@example.com

Membership of the band is open to anyone aged 11 to 18 who plays a brass band instrument to at least grade 4 standard. You do not have to be in a scaba member band to take part in SCYB (although subs will be a little cheaper if you are!) Please note that trumpets and french horns are not acceptable as they are not brass band instruments.
New players are always welcome at SCYB! Membership is renewed annually, running from 1st September (or whenever you join the band) until the following 31st August. There is an annual membership fee of £35. New members are welcome to join the band at any time during the year.
