There will be some changes to scaba’s contesting calendar in 2015.
Our Solo, Quartet & Ensemble competition has grown steadily over the past few years, with requests for additional classes, whilst at the same time entries for the Spring Contest have been declining. scaba have been lucky to have The Hawth theatre in Crawley available as our permanent contesting base for a couple of years now, but unfortunately the theatre is not available for our planned Spring Contest date next year.
The scaba team has decided to trial splitting the SQ&E into two separate events for 2015. The solo competition will take place at the usual time in February, with additional duet sections. The quartet and ensemble competition will take place on what would have been the weekend of the Spring contest. Both the Solo/Duet and Quartet/Ensemble contests will be held at St Paul’s Catholic College in Burgess Hill.
There will be two full band contests in 2015, in May and September. Contest Manager Jane Stewart will be emailing all of our member bands’ secretaries to ask if they would prefer the May contest to be Entertainments or Own Choice. Regardless of format, there will be a full band contest on 17th May at The Hawth.

Sat 14th February: Solo & Duet competition, St. Paul’s College, Burgess Hill (schedule released in November 14)
Sat 25th April: Quartet & Ensemble contest, St. Paul’s College, Burgess Hill
Sun 17th May: Band Contest, format tbc, Hawth Theatre
Sun 13th September: Autumn Contest, Own choice, Hawth Theatre
