Sandhurst Band to celebrate their centenary year

Euphonium star David Childs will be appearing on stage this month to help Sandhurst celebrate their centenary year.  The band, formed in 1908 by local villagers and officers serving with the nearby Royal Military Academy, are putting on a gala concert on Saturday 5th July to mark the occasion.

Also joining the band will be the 50 strong Phoenix Choir and the Royal Marines Corps of Drums, all under the baton of Sandhurst M.D. Ian McElligott.  Band Chairman Neil Jobes said of the event to be held at the 1200 seat Hexagon Theatre in Reading:

The band is really excited about the prospect of performing on such a large stage and with such great guest artists.  We will have to be on top form to do David and the other guests justice, but all the players are confident of putting on a great show.”

David will be performing some of the pieces he is well known for including ‘Brillante’ and ‘The Hot Canary’.  Anyone wishing to attend the event can purchase tickets at £12 from the Hexagon Box Office on 0118 960 6060.
