Matthew Pollard, the newly appointed MD of The
Hangleton Brass Band has become the NABBC Conductor
of 2008 receiving a prize of £1000 and a trophy.
The final was held last Saturday, 21st
June at Unity College, Northampton.
To receive this accolade Matthew had to rehearse the
Virtuoso GUS Band on a major brass band work and
survive a gruelling interview.
Matthew got to the final by winning the Midlands
heat in March when he worked with the Newstead Band.
The competition which is organised by the National
Association of Brass Band Conductors in association
with Virtuoso is open to anyone aged 21 or over who
is not a professional level conductor.
Matthew is a former solo baritone player with both
the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. |
