  NABBC Regional Test Piece Workshop

The Number 1 Area of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors (NABBC) will be holding a workshop on Saturday 2nd February 2008 to study the 4th, 3rd and 2nd section regional test pieces.

The event will be held at Dartford Salvation Army Hall, 66 Hythe Street (near High Street), Dartford, Kent DA1 1BE. Dartford is easily accessible from the M25 and there is car parking nearby. There is also a train service (North Kent Line for South Eastern Trains) to Dartford from Central London (Cannon Street, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Victoria or Waterloo East), the Medway Towns and the Kent coast. The hall is only a few minutes walk from the station. There is wheelchair access into the hall.

The workshops will be led by Dr Roy Newsome (3rd and 2nd Section) and Walter Ritchie BEM (4th Section) with the KM Medway Band.

Admission is free to members of the NABBC and to any other conductor who completes a membership application form on the day accompanied by the annual subscription (£30 for Full and Associate Members, £15 for students and senior citizens). Admission for non-members is £5 which includes tea or coffee during the day.

The programme for the day is as follows:

10.00 a.m. NABBC No 1 Area Members Meeting

11.15 a.m. 4th Section Test Piece Workshop

12.30 p.m. Lunch (Food will be available at a small charge)

1.30 p.m. 3rd Section Test Piece Workshop

2.24 p.m. 2nd Section Test Piece Workshop

This is an ideal opportunity for both conductors and players to obtain some insight into the construction and subtleties of the pieces. Please bring your own score or band part.
