Held on
Sunday 6th April 2008, all seventeen of
the bands entered fought their way through the worst
snowfall to hit the South East of England for 20
years, in order to take part in this event. Apart
from the start being delayed by 45 minutes, the
contest was a great success.
Section
winners were Fairlop Brass (1st Section),
Thundersley Brass (2nd Section) and the
Godalming Band (3rd Section). SCABA
youth bands were represented by Shanklin Town Youth
Brass, however, no Championship Section bands took
part this year.
With 20
performances, the audience enjoyed a wide variety of
marches and own-choice test pieces, as did
Adjudicator Steve Pritchard-Jones.
