CONCERT
OF THE STARS - 12th JULY 2008
In aid of
PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE &
ST LUKES HOSPITAL CANCER CENTRE.
An concert open air concert is
being held beside the lake in the beautiful grounds
of Aldro School, Shackleford, near to Godalming,
Surrey on Saturday 12th July 2008 in aid
of these two richly deserving charities.
The programme comprises a wealth
of international and world class Welsh
artistes.
The London Welsh Male Voice Choir
whose rich and powerful tones have enthralled
audiences round the globe and who are always in
great demand.
The Regimental Band of the Royal
Welsh with its wide
repertoire of classic and popular music is similarly
in high demand.
This band and choir were
performing at the Sydney Opera House last November.
The soloists for this evening are
of world renown:-
Rebecca Evans
is star of the world of opera.
She has just been awarded the prestigious Grammy for
the outstanding operatic performance of 2007
[beating Placido Domingo who was one of the 4
nominations]. Rebecca performs regularly at all the
worlds’ major opera houses and concert halls, and
has sung with Pavarotti, Bochelli et al. She has
appeared a number of times at the BBC Proms and
hosted her own TV series “A Touch of Classics”.
Anthony Stuart-Lloyd
is a 6ft 7” baritone with a voice
to match, described by the Telegraph critic as
“Rolls Royce sumptuousness”. When he won the
Eisteddfod he was awarded the Blue Riband, the award
for the best of all performers. Voted Welsh young
singer of the year he has developed an international
career in opera and concert, and has starred in the
West End.
This promises to be an exception
evening of music making in a lovely setting and a
one off opportunity to listen to world class
artists’ in our local area, whilst enjoying your
