The origins of Tredegar Town Band can be traced back to 1849, although it wasn’t until 1876 following victory at the Welsh National Eisteddfod that they were formally constituted. History shows that early contesting victories were sporadic, although they did compete extensively – from local competitions to the famous Crystal Palace in London.
Tredegar Band and their Musical Director Ian Porthouse have earned a worldwide reputation for artistic innovation and excellence, with recent projects including the ground-breaking ‘Dark Arteries’ ballet and a movie appearance in the hit British film ‘Pride’.
The 2018/2019 Brass Season also includes Grimethorpe Colliery Band (18 Sept 18), Desford Colliery Band (7 Oct 18), Band of The King’s Division (18 Nov 18), Cory Band (20 Jan 18), Brighouse & Rastrick Band (Sun 10 Feb)
