Congratulations to all prizewinners and big thanks to David Hirst, all competing bands and the scaba and Hawth teams for an enjoyable day.

Traditionally held in April, this contest has been suffering from ever decreasing numbers and running at a loss for a number of years now.  scaba recently invited over 150 local bands to take part in a survey with a range of questions including what changes might make it easier and more appealing for bands to take part in our contests.

Based on feedback from the bands, decisions were made to revert to National registrations and gradings, and to move this contest to a date before the Regional qualifying contests in March.  Sadly many of the bands who told us this is what they wanted still did not enter the contest, and the association is now faced with a difficult decision as we cannot continue to run events that fail to even cover costs. The next Spring contest is provisionally booked for 24th February 2019 but this event may now be cancelled.
